BOJ could push back inflation target date: Reuters poll

Bank of Japan (BOJ) will likely push back the timing of when it expects to reach 2 percent inflation target, the Reuters poll shows.

Key points

32 or 39 economists expect BOJ to push back inflation target date.

Economists expect the core consumer price index, which includes oil products but excludes fresh food, to rise 0.9 percent this fiscal year and 1.0 percent in fiscal 2019. The projections exclude the impact on price growth from a scheduled sales tax hike next October.
